Flatbush Holiday Accommodation is close to several of Auckland's largest sports and recreational venues. Listed on this page is a brief summary of the main venues close by. When you stay with us there is no need to battle the Auckland motorway traffic! - they are all under a 20 minute drive away from the accommodation.


Totara Park

A large park provides a well-integrated mix of active and passive recreation opportunities, whilst protecting its native bush and maintaining its rural character. It is 1.9km away from Flatbush Holiday Accommodation - a 7 min car ride. 

Totara Park is a 216 hectare gem offering adventure play, walks and bridle trails, riding for the disabled, tennis courts, an open air swimming pool, mountain bike tracks and the heritage building, Beauford House, which is used for weddings, conferences and other private functions. The park is dog-friendly with both on-leash and off-leash areas. The park is located next to the Auckland Botanical Gardens, and near the Nathan Homestead, a historic building and arts centre.

Mountain Biking - Totara Park 

Some of Auckland’s leisure Mountain Bike Trails, are located just off the Manukau Motorway exit and it is the perfect pace for a spin. The trails are a mix of beginner to intermediate, gentle grades, but challenging at pace. Currently there is a network of around 15km +. Mountain Bikes can be stored in the garages at Flatbush Holiday Accommodation. If you are looking for a nice easy ride through a park in Auckland with some small fast bits through bush, then this is a good option. 


Barry Curtis Park 

Barry Curtis Park is named after Barry Curtis ex Mayor of Manukau and located in Flat Bush, Manukau City of which the first stage was opened in April 2009. At 94 hectares, it is one of New Zealand's largest parks, of a size as has not been established since the Auckland Domain in the 1840s. it is 1.4km away from Flatbush Holiday Accommodation - a 5 minute car ride - or run along the landscape walkways and it will take only 20mins. There is a 5km running or walking track around the park and is well signposted.

Playgrounds, sports fields, accessible toilets and changing rooms, car parks (including mobility parks in some of the car parks), basketball court, skate ramp, seating and picnic tables, drinking fountains and tracks are inside the park.

Access the car park for basketball and the skate ramp from Chapel Road, playgrounds from Stancombe Road, and sports fields from Flat Bush School Road. Carpark gates are open 7am to 6.30pm in winter and 7am to 8.30pm during daylight savings.


Bruce Pullman Park 

We are a 16 min drive (12km) away from one of Auckland's best sports park - Pulman Park. It is one of New Zealand's best sports, recreational and leisure amenity integration for the community.  Pulman Park is a world class sports park. The facilities are geared towards community excellence at all levels. The Park is the home of state of the art facilities, including a purpose built gymnastics and trampoline facility, a multi-purpose indoor Arena, outdoor netball courts, sand based and grass fields, cricket ovals and a multi-use Teamsports building whilst also offers upscale sports team and group accommodation. The park is only 7.8km from Flatbush Holiday Accommodation - a 16 minute drive. 


Rainbows End Adventure Park 

Rainbow's End is a 9.3 hectares theme park in Manukau, Auckland. Rainbow's End includes the main theme park and also Kidz Kingdom, a family entertainment centre for children 8 years and under. It is currently New Zealand's largest theme park and currently employs up to 300 staff. It is only 3.3km away from Flatbush Holiday Accommodation - approximately a 10-15 minute drive.


Vector Wero Whitewater Park

Auckland's Ultimate Adventure Rush - Vector Wero Whitewater Park is a world class tourism destination that engages our communities and youth. It is New Zealand's first facility to offer an artificial river and water course for recreation, sports, and emergency services training, school programmes and youth development.

Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple New Zealand

The Fo Guang Shan temple is a large temple and community centre of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist movement in New Zealand. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the country. The temple and complex were built over seven years at a cost NZ$ 20 million. It was designed in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. The temple also includes a large Buddha statue and a two-tonne bell. There is a beautiful Tea House on the grounds. This is only an 3.9km away form Flatbush Holiday Accommodation a 8 min drive or a 35 minute walk away through Barry Curtis Park

Opened in late 2007, the mission of the new temple is to promote Humanistic Buddhism. But it is also intended to benefit (and is open to) non-Buddhists, “through education and teaching people how to lead good lives.” 

The temple grounds are open six days a week (closed Monday) and are open on most public holidays. Hours are normally 9 am until 5 pm but some parts of the temple (notably the exhibition hall and the external shrine) may open later and close earlier. During festivals, the temple may be open later in the evening and occasionally will be open past midnight such as on the Lunar New Year
